Current:
Lead Human Factors Engineer at MITRE
Applying my breadth of skills to self-driving cars, large analytics dashboards, and transportation. I work at the intersection of design, strategy, and SME leadership in key practice areas of HF and HSI as well as UX.
I’ve been working the past 12 years in UX, particularly in the intersection of Hardware and Software. I enjoy working in incredibly technically challenging domains where I can apply my broad toolkit in research, design systems, knowledge management, service design, and strategy to solve new and challenging problems.
Whether automotive (self-driving cars), government contracting (supporting startups within government and military), innovation lab work (computer human interaction ventures), or healthcare (class I medical devices, radiology, oral healthcare) and digital suites of websites and applications for all the above.
Mixed Methods Research (Quant and Qual) - while not the level of a data scientist, I see a lot of meaning and story in numbers and combine the why and the what effectively
End to End - I’ve worked throughout lifecycles of products and services, see them go from idea to launch, and have also focused specifically in different pieces of the journey depending on needs
Hardware/Software- About 10 years of HW & SW, but easily able to work with just software. I am experienced working in ecosystems where we interact more closely with different types of devices and hardware, but have equal experience in Desktop/Mobile/Tablet, Native Apps/Webapp along with separate and embedded displays.
Class I medical devices - Oral healthcare products and digital app companions, continuous glucose monitor digital experiences
Design Agency and also Consulting in-house
Startups - as small as a few up to 200, from early stages through to post-acquisition and integration
Large Corporate - Global 100k+ companies (ex Philips)
Government Contracting - Both developing internal initiatives, supporting on DARPA funded projects, and working directly with various branches of the military (ex Kessel Run for Air Force)
Lead Human Factors Engineer at MITRE
Principal Researcher (product and technical) for Remote Vehicle Assistance at Motional (self-driving robotaxi startup in Boston, MA)
A Path Forward: Using AI to Improve Remote Vehicle Assistance for AVs
Project Work coming soon
Right now I only share the link & password directly or via slide share on a call. I’m working on a public-facing version of my projects.
To the right, you see the interface I was recently supporting, Remote Vehicle Assistance (RVA). An agent is looking at the RVA interface on both screens, seeing what the car ‘sees’ via cameras and what it’s interpreting in finer detail on the right.
